Old Mill Rehabilitation provides post-acute care in a distinct environment. Today’s healthcare consumer demands a better approach that the current long-term care system can offer. Often those qualified for a Medicare short-stay choose to return to home prematurely, due to the undesirable alternative offered by the long-term care system.
Transitional care is an optimal setting for patients that require a regimen of skilled therapy or nursing care following an acute hospital stay. Our highly qualified therapists and nurses are skilled and experienced in working with adults of all ages who have a variety of orthopaedic, cardiac, and neurological conditions. Common conditions treated may include stroke, brain aneurysm, total and partial joint replacement, surgical patients with ORIF following fracture and/or fall, spinal fusion, spinal decompression, laminectomy, vertebroplasty, heart attack, coronary bypass, pacemaker placement, congestive heart failure, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Michele Dein, Administrator
Michele Dein is the Administrator at Old Mill Rehabilitation. In 2014, she joined the team as the Dietary Manager. She quickly learned many aspects of the facility and decided to enroll in the Administrator-In-Training program. Michele has 17 years of healthcare experience, 11 of those years in management roles. She is an active member of the Nebraska Coalition of Change Committee, part of the Pioneer Network which is known for being the national leader of the culture change movement, helping care providers to transition away from a medical, institutional model of elder care to one that is life affirming, satisfying, humane and meaningful. Her healthcare experiences include assisted and independent livings, skilled nursing, and long-term care.
Michele lives in Blair with her husband and son. In her free time Michele enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, and outdoor activities.
Carol Sachs, Director of Marketing
Carol Sachs joined the team with 20 years of experience in Skilled Care. Carol worked in Activities, Social Services, Discharge Planning and Admission roles throughout her career. She also worked in the Home Care industry as a Client Care Coordinator and in Marketing. Carol brings her passion and love for the senior population and enjoys networking with other professionals in the industry. Carol has a friendly spirit and is a positive team player.
Carol lives in Elkhorn with her husband and has 2 sons attending college. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and watching college sports.
Courtney Stroud, Director of Rehabilitation
Courtney received her doctorate of occupational therapy degree from Creighton University. She has over 7 years experience in the post-acute setting with emphasis on dementia and orthopedic conditions. Her favorite part of being an occupational therapist in this setting is developing unique treatment approaches to overcome potential barriers in order to allow patients to return home.
Courtney has been employed at Old Mill Rehabilitation since its opening in 2014; during that time she has developed her leadership skills through many roles at Old Mill including lead occupational therapist, therapy student coordinator, assistant director of rehabilitation, and in her current position as Director of Rehabilitation.
